Bhakti Movement was most powerful and successful movement by Hindu Saint from ancient to medieval period.
1.Shankaracharya()
He was born in poor Brahmin family at Kaladi, present day Kerala, India.He give a philosophy of Adwait. His Philosophy put Foundation of Bhakti movement in present day Kerela.
He establish muths, temple on four side is commonly known as CHAR DHAM.
2.Ramanuja ( 788-820 CE)
He was born in Tamil Brahmin family (mother Kanthimthi and father Asuri Keshava Somayaji) in 1017 AD in Sriperumbdur, Tamil Nadu, India. He completed his education from Canjeevaram and Shri Rangam. After completion of education he was appoint as teacher in Yamunamuni, known as Vaishnava saint.
He is known as Hindu Saint, Guru, Social Reformer, Philosopher. He give many philosophy for Hinduism and He started Bhakti movement with his disciple in Tamil Nadu. His Philosophy had work as Foundation of Bhakti movement in Tamil Nadu.
He give a philosophy of Vishisthadwait. and done soo many debates with Gurus (leader) of different cult to spread Vishisthadwait.
3. Madhavacharya
He was born on 1238 at pajaka near Udupi, (a coastal district) Karnataka, . His Parents is Narayana Bhatta and Vedavati.
He gives a philosophy of Dwait Vedant (where 2 truth exist simultaneoualy). He is also known as founder of Sri Krishna matha.
He complete his all education about Vedas, upnishads, purnas and Ancient Hindu scripture by Guru Achyuta-preksha.
4. Surdas
He was born in late 15th Century at Ruuncata(which lies on the road passing through Agra to Matura), UP, India.
He was blind from birth & neglected by family, forcing him to leave his home at age of 6 and than start living on bank of Yamuna River.
He met Saint Vallabha Acharya & became his disciple while going on a pilgrimage to Vrindavan.
He is Best known for his Complsition the Sur Sagar, Sur Saravali, Sahitya Lahari. In contempary writings, it said to contain 1 lakh verses in its 16th Century from contain description of Krishna life. Many of the verses were lost due to obscurity and uncertainity of times.
Surdas was an important part of Bhakti movement spreading across Indian Subcontinet. His verses represented spritual empowerment of the masses happened in South India in 7th & in North India in 14th -17th Century.
5. Vallabhacharya
He was born on 27 April 1479 at Champaran, Jharkhand, India. His parents Shri Lakshmana Bhatta and IllammaGaru.
His birthday is celebrate as Vallabhacharya Jayanti. In this day his followers
He writes Anusthan, shodash GranthGranth and so on
He gives a philosophy of Shuddhadvaita Vedanta philosophy (This philosophy holds that the Supreme Reality is pure and perfect and that all other manifestations are distortions of that reality.)
Vallabhacharya always say that devotion is perfected by offering one's body, wealth, mind and heart to the blessed lord.
6. Ramanad
Ramananda was born in 14th Century at Prayagraj, UP in a brahmin family. His mother is sushila devi and father Punya sadan.
He complete his education from Saint Raghwanand in kashi, UP.
He was an influential social reformer of Northern India. He championed the pursuit of knowledge and direct devotional spirituality, and did not discriminate based on birth family, gender or religion. Don't ask a sadhu his caste, ask him about knowledge instead
His famous Verse is "जात-पात पूछे ना कोई-हरि को à¤à¤œै सो हरि का होई"
7. Kabir
The year of Kabir's birth and death are unclear. Some historians favor 1398-1448 while some say 1440-1518
He was 15th century Indian mystic poet and Saint, whose writings influenced Hinduism's Bhakti movement.
His
verses are found in Sikhism's scripture Guru Granth Sahib. His early life was in Muslim but he was strongly influenced by Saint Ramananda (A Hindu Guru).
He was biggest critic of Hinduism and Islam, Social reformer, Spread bhakti movement, teacher.
He suggested that True god is with person who is on the path of Right, consider all creature as self.
8. Mira Bai
She was born around start of 16th Century in the Chaukari village in Merta, Rajasthan, India. Her father was Ratan singh a descendent of Rao Rathor, Founder of Jodhpur.
Mirabai get an doll of Shree Krishna from a saint at age of 3 year. That day was turning point of her life.
Her Spritual guru was Saint Raidas.
To Mira, this figure of Sri Krishna emboided his lifelong presence. She resolved to make krishna her lifelong friends, lover and Husband.
Meera married Bhoj Raj, Crown prince of Mewar, in 1516, Bhoj Raj s/o Rana Sangha.
She was social reformer, philosophers, poet. Her devotional poems were designed to be sung as bhajans and many are still sung today.
She was main pillar of bhakti movement in Present day Rajasthan, India.
9. Guru Nanak dev
Guru Nanak (father Nanak) is known as Baba Nanak, was first guru and founder of Sikhism.
He was born on 29 November 1469 at Talvandi (present day Nankana Sahib, Pakistan) near Lahore. His parents were Kalyan Chand Das Bedi ,popularly shortened to mehta Kalu and Mata Tripta.
His father was local patwari (accountant) for crop revenue in village of Talwandi. His Parents were both Hindu Khatris and employed as merchants.
He was 1st guru of Sikhism, he is also known as founder of Sikhism.
He spread Bhakti movement and with some changes he found a New Religion(Dharma) Sikhism. which is one of the biggest religion in world with almost 2.4 Cr followers.
